These images were taken in a night club in almost complete darkness using a 35mm camera.
When I think of a portrait, I think of a studio produced image that is glazed over with fuzzy light, cheesey cut out backgrounds, the subjects hair has been hair sprayed solid, everything is unnatural and cosmetic, and of course big phony smiles. I like to capture images raw in unrehersed situations and real expressions. A little bit of touch up is ok, but mostly I prefer seeing somebody in real places in real poses (I sort of hold this rule I hold to portraits of real people, everything else falls into a different category... when you are creating a staged image, the faces are no long real people, the subject becomes part of the situation or expression).
